The Section of Agricultural Botany was established in the year 2006 with B.Sc. (Agriculture) degree program with an intake of 96 students. The intake was increased to 120 students since year 2010.
The department has good infrastructure and well equipped laboratories such as Plant Tissue culture laboratory and general laboratory for plant breeding, Seed Technology, Plant Physiology and environmental science. The department has faculty members having vast experience in their field. The faculty has succeeded in keeping a lively atmosphere among the students, with timely up gradations in the innovative teaching techniques. Many of the students went for higher studies in agricultural botany discipline by passing JRF(Junior Research Fellowship Exam) and selected in various governmental organizations.
In today's fast-changing world, the ever-growing challenges of limited resources, rapid climate changes and preservation of environment demand a lot of knowledge in the agricultural field to resolve the on farm problems. New generation of Agricultural graduates will be an asset for the country with all the necessary skills to meet the need of agricultural manpower. We faculty at the department of agricultural botany, are committed to develop a competent manpower to fulfill the need for sustainable agricultural production.
